More than 300 athletes faced poor conditions, a strong wind and thick mud, when they competed in the annual Liverpool & District Cross Country Union Championships at Kirkby this afternoon.
Pembroke A. & C.C. retained their stranglehold on the senior race by winning it for the eighth successive time and a Pembroke man, Geoff Warriner, was the individual winner for the second year in succession. Wallasey A.C. runner, Brian Woolford, was second and Duggie Biddle, of Wirral A.C., third.
