
Bolton marathon international Ron Hill won his second title in 16 hours when, holding off the strong challenge of Brian Woolford, Wallasey, by 30 seconds in the Northern 20-mile road race championship at Liverpool yesterday.
Welsh steeplechase international Guy Davies, Birchfield, set a cracking pace for the first 14 miles, but then Hill moved quickly into the lead to win in the fast time of lhr. 45min. 36sec.
Bolton also won the team race by two points from Manchester Athletic Club, but the Manchester team were unlucky to lose as their mile international, Stan Taylor, dropped from 11th to 19th place over the last half-mile. Results:
