A 10k race has returned to the coast with a refreshed route and strong turnout.

The BTR Wirral 10k, held on Sunday, October 11, in New Brighton, welcomed 1,191 runners to the 13th edition of the event on a fast, out-and-back coastal course.

This year's race started and finished on King's Parade, next to The Dips, marking a return to the location last used in 2021. Alan Rothwell, founder of BTR Liverpool, said: "Well done to all 1,191 runners who came out, raced, and crossed the finish line of this year's BTR Wirral 10k.

"Spectators were out in force cheering on runners, and always a big thank you to our brilliant volunteers - they really are the backbone to every BTR event." Wallasey AC dominated the men's podium, with Joseph Boden winning in 31 minutes 59 seconds. His clubmate Oliver Chadwick finished second just three seconds behind, and Elliot Clayton of Warrington AC took third in 33 minutes 9 seconds.

Mr Rothwell said: "Congratulations to our winners, showing real grit and determination and well done to Joseph and Oliver from Wallasey AC recording a hat-trick of podium places across this year's BTR race portfolio. "What a way to sign off the competitive BTR races for 2026, it's been quite a year."

The pair also claimed first and second place in April's BTR Mersey Tunnel 10K.

Mr Boden went on to win the BTR Port Sunlight 5k in June, while Mr Chadwick took first in the Port Sunlight 10k. In the women's race, Bethany Ord took first place in 37 minutes 51 seconds.

Harriet Jones of Vale Royal AC finished second in 37 minutes 59 seconds, with Naomi Alleyne of Wirral AC third in 38 minutes 23 seconds.
